Jagran correspondent, Jamshedpur. There is great news for the residents of Barigoda and Govindpur on the Tatanagar-Asanbani rail section. The long pending Railway Overbridge (ROB) will now be constructed entirely by the Railways.
After the efforts of MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, the Railway Ministry has decided that due to the indifference of the state government, now the Railways itself will complete this project by bearing 100 percent of the cost. This will provide relief from road accidents and traffic jams occurring every day in the area.
Recently, during the budget session, MP Vidyut Baran Mahato met the Union Railway Minister and expressed concern over the accidents happening at Barigoda (gate number 138) and Govindpur (gate number 137). The Railway Minister immediately took cognizance and instructed the Railway Board officials to find a solution.
After this, South Eastern Railway General Manager Anil Kumar Mishra approved it. Earlier this project was to be built on 50-50 percent cost sharing basis, but after the state government did not show interest, now it has been decided to build it as a "single agency" i.e. only by the Railways.
Asanbani-Tatanagar section is the busiest A route of South Eastern Railway. Due to there being three railway lines here, there is a lot of train traffic. Barigoda and Govindpur gates often face severe traffic jams due to heavy road traffic. This also causes delays in rail operations. Construction of these two flyovers has become mandatory for safety and time saving.
It is noteworthy that the foundation stone of both these important ROBs was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing. This decision has been taken in connection with the abolition of gates across the country and construction of overbridges under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Now Railways has started the necessary paperwork for this. According to MP Mahato, the matter of the proposed overbridge near Barigoda and Govindpur as well as Makdoompur Railway Gate is also now under consideration of the Railways. A positive decision on this also is expected soon.
