Jagran correspondent, Moradabad. The fare rationalization implemented by the Railways from December 26 will have limited impact on the passengers of Moradabad division. According to Railways, there will be no increase in fare of ordinary class till 215 km from Moradabad. Its direct benefit will be available to passengers traveling towards Delhi and Dehradun.
The distance from Moradabad to Delhi is about 170 kilometers and from Dehradun is about 155 kilometers, which comes within the range of 215 kilometers. In such a situation, ordinary class passengers will not have to pay any additional fare on these two routes.
Although the distance from Moradabad to Lucknow is approximately 330 kilometers. In such a situation, the fare will increase at the rate of one paisa per kilometer for the remaining distance of approximately 115 kilometers after 215 kilometers. In this way, if traveling till Lucknow, passengers in ordinary class will have to pay about one to one and a half rupees extra.
Railways has clarified that local trains and suburban services will also remain out of the fare increase up to 215 km. Along with this, there has been no increase in the fare of Monthly Season Ticket (MST). This will provide great relief to the daily working and working class travelers from Moradabad.
