Jagran correspondent, Ranchi. Dense fog has severely affected the operation of trains. Long distance trains are running late by hours. Ranchi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express reached Delhi late on Friday by ten and a half hours at 10.45 pm. Whereas, its scheduled time of reaching Delhi is 11 am.
Arvind Singh and Babita Singh, who were going from Ranchi to Delhi by Rajdhani Express, told that a bowl of Khichdi was given by the Railways only once in ten and a half hours. After that the children kept whining with hunger, but the pantry staff said that now there is neither drinking water nor any food item in the train.
As per rules, if the train is late, the railway management has to make arrangements for food and drinks for the passengers. At the same time, Delhi-Ranchi Garib Rath Express reached Ranchi late by about an hour. Jammu Tawi-Sambalpur Express is running late by five and a half hours. Similarly, Swarn Jayanti Express arrived from Ranchi with a delay of about nine hours.
Patna-Ranchi Janshatabdi reached Ranchi two and a quarter hours late, while Islampur-Hatia Express reached Hatia six hours late. Ranchi-Patna Jan Shatabdi Express also had to be rescheduled due to non-availability of rakes on time.
Due to late running of link rake, Train No. 12366 Ranchi-Patna Janshatabdi Express departed about three hours late instead of its scheduled departure time of 14:25.
Extension in operation of Santragachi-Ajmer special train
Railways has expanded the operations of Santragachi-Ajmer-Santragachi Special Viaranchi (08611/08612) for the convenience of passengers. Train number 08611 will leave from Santragachi every Monday from January 5 to February 23.
A total of eight trips will operate. Train number 08612 will leave from Ajmer every Thursday from January 8 to February 26. Timings, stops and coach combinations of these trains will remain the same.
