Less than 24 hours had passed since the death of poet Mansoor Usmani's daughter in the city, two innocent children died due to the poisonous gas produced by the fireplace in the room in Chhajlat. While the condition of husband, wife and their son remains critical. When he did not come out of the room till 9 o'clock on Friday morning, the nephew knocked on the door and Pappu alias Javed came out.
By then his two sons had died. All three were admitted to Anika Hospital in Chhajlat. Where he is undergoing treatment. The relatives refused to conduct post-mortem. On Wednesday night, poet Mansoor Usmani's daughter was sleeping in the room with the Globber heater on. He was burnt to death after the fire broke out due to short circuit.
Javed alias Pappu, resident of Chhajlat area Chhajlat Rampura village, has a tea canteen near the petrol pump near Chhajlat on Moradabad-Haridwar road. The house is at some distance from the canteen. At around 11 pm on Thursday night, Javed slept with his wife Sahista and three children, six-year-old Sifan, four-year-old Ahil and three-year-old Ayra, after lighting the fireplace in the room.
At night, the room became suffocated due to the poisonous gas coming out of the fireplace. When the family members did not wake up till around 9 am on Friday morning, nephew Aamir Khan and brother-in-law Salauddin, who were sleeping in the adjacent room, knocked on the door. After a long time, Javed somehow opened the door, he too was in an unconscious state. When the noise was raised, people nearby arrived.
Everyone was immediately taken to a private hospital in Chhajlat. Doctors declared Ahil and Ayra dead in the hospital. Elder sons Shifan, Javed and Sahista are undergoing treatment. Where after some time Sahista's health deteriorated and she was referred to a higher centre. Sifan and father Pappu alias Javed are in better condition.
On information, ASP Abhinav Dwivedi and Chhajlat police reached the spot. When the police asked for post-mortem of the dead body, the relatives refused. SP Dehat Kunwar Akash Singh said that after filling the Panchnama, the bodies of both the innocent children were handed over to their relatives.
