After the order given by the Supreme Court regarding the ban imposed on CAQM vehicles after 10-15 years, more than three lakh vehicles of the district will be able to run in NCR, although this ban will continue on about 2.78 lakh vehicles.
Let us tell you, the Supreme Court had temporarily stayed the 10-15 year ban on vehicles imposed by the NGT in August this year, on which the Supreme Court issued an order this week. Under this order, NGT's ban on 10-15 year old vehicles will no longer apply to BS 4 and above category vehicles.
Ban on BS-3 vehicles continues
After this the city residents heaved a sigh of relief. However, after this order, this ban will remain applicable on about 2.78 lakh vehicles of BS 3 and below category in the district. According to the data received by the Transport Department, a total of 12 lakh 9 thousand 810 vehicles are registered in the district.
Of these, more than 14 thousand of BS 1 category, more than 85 thousand of BS 2 category, 1.37 lakh vehicles are registered. That means there are a total of 2.78 lakh such vehicles which are included in BS 3 and below category vehicles. All these vehicles will no longer be able to run after completing their life under the ban on vehicles of 10-15 years in NCR following the order of the Supreme Court.
However, advanced category vehicles like BS 6 including 2.82 of BS 4 category of the district will be able to run in NCR even after completing 10-15 years. More than three lakh vehicles will be able to directly benefit from this.
