Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. Questions have once again been raised on the basic facilities of higher education institutions in the capital. The gypsum panel ceiling of a porta cabin classroom suddenly collapsed during classes at Dayal Singh College on Wednesday. It is a matter of relief that no student or teacher was injured in the incident.

College Principal VK Paliwal said that this accident happened due to the old structure. He said that many classes in the college are being conducted in temporary porta cabins, the condition of which is difficult to assess. The administration is making efforts for the development of infrastructure as soon as possible and many agreements have also been signed for this.

According to the students, the sixth semester BA History class was going on in room number 36 when part of the ceiling collapsed. He says that this room located behind the library was already in a dilapidated condition and many other cabins are also in the same condition. Teachers also believe that the college infrastructure is very weak compared to the increasing student population and projects for the construction of new buildings are pending for years.

ABVP said that playing with the lives of students cannot be tolerated. If the college administration does not get all the classrooms repaired within 10 days, there will be a big demonstration.
