Extortion of Rs 25 lakh from school chairman in Panipat, threat of 100 bullets (File Photo)
Jagran correspondent, Panipat. The cases of demanding extortion from businessmen are increasing day by day. Miscreants have demanded extortion from two people in Panipat. In the first case, miscreants have demanded extortion of Rs 25 lakh from the chairman of the school in Sector 13/17 area of the city through e-mail ID.
The family has been threatened with 100 bullets if they do not pay the extortion money. In the second case, extortion money of Rs 2.5 crore has been demanded from businessman Yashpal Garg, resident of Sector-12 HUDA. Threats of death have been issued if extortion money is not paid. This threat was given in the name of Bambiha gang.
In both the cases, the police have registered the case and started action. An extortion money of Rs 25 lakh has been demanded from the chairman of the school in Sector 13/17 area of the city.
A bank account number has also been sent to deposit the requested amount. In the complaint given to the police, the victim school chairman said that on August 24, at around 10:18 am, a threatening message came on the school's e-mail.
It was clearly written in the e-mail that if Rs 25 lakh was not paid, the chairman and his family would be shot 100 times. The threat maker also claimed that he has done recce of the entire family and has information about every activity.
Along with the e-mail, a bank account number was also sent for depositing the extortion amount. According to the chairman, this was not the first threat.
Earlier, a threatening letter was also sent to the school's WhatsApp number, which also included pictures of weapons. In view of the repeated threats of extortion, a complaint was given to the police on 16 December by the school chairman. Police said that an FIR has been registered on the complaint. With the help of cyber cell, they are investigating e-mails and bank accounts.
An extortion money of Rs 2.5 crore has been demanded from businessman Yashpal Garg, resident of Sector-12 HUDA. This threat was given in the name of Bambiha gang, due to which there is an atmosphere of panic among the businessman and his family. Businessman Yashpal Garg said in his complaint to the police that he received a call from an unknown number on his phone at around 11:08 am on Thursday.
