Jagran correspondent, Bettiah. The impact of the dispute between junior doctors and Jeevika Didis at Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) was visible on the hospital arrangements on Tuesday. The catering service of Jeevika Rasoi came to a complete halt since Monday night. The injured Jeevika workers are being treated at GMC Hospital. Due to non-restoration of services for about 24 hours, relatives of more than 400 patients and other people could not get food.
The situation was such that many relatives had to sleep hungry at night. On Tuesday, we had to have breakfast and food from outside at expensive prices. However, diet and snacks were provided to the patients from Jeevika Kitchen from time to time.
Hospital Superintendent Dr. Sudha Bharti said that four interns have been identified from the victim Jeevika Didis. All four have been suspended from class and OPD work. These four intern students have been banned from going to Jeevika canteen.
Jeevika Didi's jewelery and Rs 11,500 missing in fight
Chinta Devi, Kajal Devi, Babli Devi and Anita Devi, undergoing treatment at GMCH, said that during the fight, the mangalsutra and nose nail went missing from their neck. Rs 11,500 are also missing from the sales counter.
The sisters who run Jeevika Rasoi say that information about the matter has been given to the senior officer. The Didis have also alleged that they felt unsafe and that the TOP police did not take concrete action. Jeevika canteen manager Bajrang told that at present Jeevika didi is injured. Breakfast and food are being provided to the patients in the ward.
The canteen will be started once security is ensured. Junior doctors say that when they asked about change in the food order, Jeevika didis started misbehaving and a colleague was taken hostage by closing the gate. Somehow he was taken out. Doctors have termed the allegations of assault as false.
Controversy increased over not taking curd order
According to hospital sources, on Monday, intern and junior doctor Jeevika had come to have food in the kitchen. Curd and omelette were ordered, but after the food was ready the curd was refused. Regarding this matter, kitchen worker Siddharth Gupta talked about placing orders together. After this the altercation increased and the matter reached the level of fighting. After the incident, angry Jeevika Didis tried to catch the concerned doctor and take him to the Superintendent. Meanwhile, the situation worsened when other intern doctors arrived. More than half a dozen Jeevika Didi and other workers were injured.
Review of the incident continued till late night
As soon as information about the incident was received, DM Taranjot Singh reached GMCH and talked to Jeevika Didis and the hospital superintendent. The DM said that a three-member team has been formed and the entire matter is being investigated. Administrative and legal action will be taken against those found guilty. Arbitrariness will not be tolerated at any level in the system. Here, a meeting of Principal Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Superintendent Dr. Sudha Bharti and other officials was held in the Principal's office of GMCH late on Monday night regarding the dispute. While reviewing the incident, punitive action was discussed against the intern doctors found guilty.
