Communication partner, Chaibasa. Jharkhand State MNREGA Employees Union has started preparations for agitation due to non-payment of salaries for six months. District President Shambhu Gop said that the payment of MNREGA workers has been irregular for the last one year.
At present the honorarium is pending for about 6 to 7 months. Due to this, employees and their families are facing financial difficulties. Shambhu Gop said that many festivals were spent without salary, had to borrow money to pay children's school fees, and even household ration and medical expenses were barely met.
EPF payment is also being disrupted due to irregular salaries. Due to financial constraints, personnel are unable to do field visits, A-KYC and other work.
The workers informed the Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Development Commissioner and concerned officials about the problem several times, but no solution was found. Now the union has warned that if salaries are not paid by February 5, then all MNREGA workers will go on mass leave from February 6.
