Special features of the first phone of Samsung Galaxy S Series.

Technology Desk, New Delhi. Samsung Galaxy S is the most popular lineup of the company. In such a situation, here we are going to tell you about its first model. The original Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000), launched in June 2010, was a revolutionary device that changed the face of the smartphone industry. At a time when Apple's iPhone ruled the premium segment, the Galaxy S was designed to be the first true 'iPhone killer', focusing on Samsung's 'Three S' philosophy: Super AMOLED, Super Speed, and Super Slim.

Why was this special?

Its most special thing was its 4-inch Super AMOLED display. Unlike standard LCDs, this screen had the touch layer integrated directly into the panel, making it thinner, brighter and much more vibrant. Even today, the 'S' series is another name for market-leading display technology and it all started here.

Inside, it was a king of performance. It featured a 1GHz 'Hummingbird' processor (later named Exynos) and a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, giving it the fastest graphical processing in any smartphone at the time. It was also very thin for its time, at just 9.9mm, and was the first Android phone to be certified for DivX HD, making it a portable media powerhouse.

In India, Samsung Galaxy S was launched in June 2010 at a price of around Rs 31,500 (according to information found on Google). This was a significant moment for the Indian mobile market because until then, premium buyers were mostly limited to Nokia's Symbian or BlackBerry devices.

The Galaxy S instantly became a status symbol among tech enthusiasts in India. It was one of the first devices to feature the 'Social Hub' feature, which integrated Indian users' growing interest in Facebook, Twitter and email into one place.

This phone became the reason which made 'Galaxy' a household name in India. Due to its success, Samsung still sells millions of models with this branding.

In a country where Bollywood and music are the main sources of entertainment, the phone's ability to play high-quality video formats and its 'brilliant' screen made it a preferred choice for early Indian smartphone adopters. By the time it was discontinued, it had sold over 25 million units worldwide, laying the foundation for a legacy that continues to lead the Indian premium smartphone market today.
