According to the order of the District Magistrate, schools from class 9th to 12th will not be completely closed, but these classes can be conducted only from 10 am to 3 pm. There is a ban on conducting any kind of educational activity before and after this.

The order clearly states that due to extreme cold and cold wave in the district, there is a serious threat to the health of children. This step has been taken especially in view of the possibility of small children and children enrolled in Anganwadi centers falling ill. The district administration has taken this decision using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code 2023.

In the instructions issued by the District Magistrate, it has also been mentioned that government, private, aided, unaided, all types of schools and coaching institutes will come under the purview of this order. Under the order, the district police, municipal bodies and concerned administrative officers have also been directed to keep vigil in their respective areas and ensure that schools and Anganwadi centers remain closed. The District Magistrate has said that the weather condition will be reviewed after December 26, on the basis of which further decisions will be taken.

It is noteworthy that for the last few days, entire Bihar including Patna has been experiencing severe cold. There is a continuous decline in the minimum temperature, due to which school children are facing a lot of trouble especially in the morning. There was a demand from parents for closing the school for a long time.

At present, this order will remain effective till December 26 and after that further strategy will be decided as per the situation.
