Seven incidents that took place in two months confirm this. Despite the ongoing awareness in public interest at the administrative level, cyber criminals are ahead.
They are emptying people's bank accounts in the blink of an eye by doing work-from-home business, doubling the money, pretending to get a government job, telling their relatives that they are involved in a fake case or getting injured, posing as bank employees on the pretext of KYC of their accounts, obtaining secret codes for renewal of ATMs, calling money from their accounts by pretending to be acquaintances, sending QR codes on WhatsApp, obtaining confidential details of Google-Pay, Phone-Pe.
After the money is withdrawn from the account, people remember the tips received from the awareness program, but by then it is too late. Then they have no option other than running around and complaining.
Five days ago, Prashant Shukla of Sukhaipur village of Mahrua was lured with a work from home job and Rs 3.5 lakh was stolen from his account.
A week ago, cyber criminals stole Rs 3.64 lakh from retired bank employee Srinath Verma of Rukmangadpur, Ahirauli.
Last month, the mobile phone of Pawan Chaturvedi of Yajnavedi temple near Jaisinghpur locality of Ayodhya in Mijhauda market of Ahirauli was hacked and Rs. 65 thousand were withdrawn from his account.
Last December, Rs 7 lakh was withdrawn from the bank account of Akshay Kumar Yadav, a student of Chandauka village of Bhiti, on the pretext of getting a job.
Last December, Rs 1.5 lakh was stolen from Sejal, a girl from Majre Katgharwa of Pratappur Chamurkha village of Ahirauli, through a QR code.
