Shadow fog in Delhi-UP

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), cold wave conditions in North India may persist till December 28. There is a warning of dense to very dense fog in the morning and evening in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, due to which visibility has reduced to 50-100 meters at many places. A drop in minimum temperature has also been recorded in Rajasthan, although there has been slight relief at some places.

'Chillai Kalan' started in Kashmir

In the hilly areas, there is a possibility of heavy snowfall and rain in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and north-eastern Himachal Pradesh, increasing the risk of avalanches and snowstorms. In Kashmir, snowfall has blanketed the valley with the onset of 'Chillai Kalan', while in Himachal, roads have become slippery due to accumulation of snow on the high passes.
