Jagran correspondent, Amritsar. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken a big decision, taking seriously the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its possible misuse. SGPC has constituted a special sub-committee to control the videos, photographs and other digital content being created through AI technology against the dignity of Sikhism.
The main objective of the sub-committee is to seek expert opinion on AI related matters and prepare concrete suggestions to ban such digital content that hurts Sikhism, Guru tradition and religious sentiments.
This sub-committee constituted by SGPC includes experienced experts from the field of education, administration and computer science. The committee also includes professors, technical experts and system administrators from universities and colleges, so that solutions can be found keeping in mind both technical and religious aspects.
SGPC believes that Artificial Intelligence is a powerful technology. Its misuse can harm religious beliefs and traditions. For this reason, this sub-committee will thoroughly study the challenges posed by AI and prepare guidelines to prevent such activities in future. Further strict and practical decisions will be taken based on the recommendations of the sub-committee.
