The daughter bluntly said that first I will bring glory to the country through education and sports, then I will think about the future.

14 cases of child marriage have been reported in the district in the last 12 months. The most interesting case among these is from Jhinjhana police station area. In October-2025, a couple here had fixed the marriage of their 16-year-old daughter. The daughter is an athlete and has played national level. His dream is to bring glory to the country at the international level in sports. So he explained to his parents that he was old enough to study and write. She would not marry, but her parents did not agree.

Her marriage has been fixed for October 2025. Wedding preparations were in full swing at home. Seeing the marriage being postponed, the daughter called Child Helpline-1098 and pleaded to stop the marriage, claiming that she was a minor. When the entire incident came to the notice of District Probation Officer Mohammad Mushfekin, he sent the team of Child Helpline Shamli and the police force and stopped the child marriage.

Child helpline stopped 14 child marriages in one year

From January 2025 to January 10, 2026, 14 complaints of child marriage were received in nine police station areas in the district. In which the team explained to the people of boy and girl side and worked to stop child marriage. Of these, maximum three cases were reported in Thana Bhavan police station area, two in Jhinjhana, one in Adarsh ​​Mandi police station, one in Kandhla, two in Kairana, two in Shamli Kotwali and one in Babri.

Child Helpline in the district has worked to stop 14 child marriages in nine police station areas. In these cases, the athlete daughter herself filed a complaint expressing confidence, while in 13 other cases, aware people had lodged complaints.
