Digital Desk, Srinagar. The Meteorological Department has issued an avalanche warning for five districts of Jammu and Kashmir. In this regard, officials said that in view of the recent heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of the Union Territory, an avalanche warning has been issued in five districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

The Meteorological Department has issued a low danger avalanche warning for five districts Doda, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban. He said that there is a possibility of avalanche above 2,800 meters in these districts during the next 24 hours. People have been asked to avoid avalanche areas and follow official advice.

Avalanche occurs when a large amount of snow accumulates on high peaks and due to high pressure, the snow shifts from its place. The ice layers slide and start flowing downwards with strong currents. Whatever comes in its way, it also sweeps away. Therefore mountaineering is quite risky.

How will the weather be in Kashmir?

According to Meteorological Center Srinagar, it will remain almost cloudy till December 28. After this, there are chances of snowfall and rain in many parts from December 29 to January 1.
