Standards In UP Board Exams At Stake, Students Will Go 113 KM Away To Appear For Exams, 397 Objections Received So Far - Representation

Jagran correspondent, Agra. The high school and intermediate examinations of the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council (UP Board) are proposed in February, but before the examination, the center scheduling system has come under question. In many of the 160 examination centers created primarily by the Board, not only standards have been ignored in the allocation of students, but student comfort and safety have also been completely ignored. The situation is that the students of Kachpura area have been allotted the examination center 113 kilometers away in Bah.

Pt. K. from Government Inter College, Kachpura. The distance of Dayal Adarsh Higher Secondary School, Bah is 113 km from Lucknow Expressway and also about 93 km from Bah-Fatehabad road. It will take students at least two to two and a half hours to cover this distance. The rule of the board is that the standard of maximum distance of five km for girls and 10 km for boys is fixed, but here the rules have been openly flouted.

Similarly, the students of Gyan Inter College located at Dahtora have been sent to SMSN Inter College, Kheragarh, 37 to 45 km away, via different routes. College director Sachin Sharma says that we have lodged an objection because traveling for one to two hours before giving the examination will affect the ability of the students and the possibility of an accident will also increase. Schools with irregularities become centers again

Surprisingly, in the center allotment list, Ramji Lal Inter College and DAV Inter College located in Dhimshree have been made examination centers again, whereas last year, Divisional Joint Education Director Dr. Mukesh Chandra Agarwal had found serious irregularities during the inspection. On this, evidence of CCTV and wire recording was sought from the center administrators, but the schools disregarded the order and did not submit any records. The matter reached the government, the Additional Secretary gave instructions for investigation, despite this, after a year both the schools were made centers again. More students than capacity, resources wasted somewhere.

Even this used to be enough, but the board has allotted more students to many examination centers than their capacity, while there are some schools where resources are sufficient, but the number of students has been kept less. This will neither ensure proper utilization of resources nor ensure the quality of the examination. 397 representations were received, 315 objections regarding distance.

District School Inspector Chandrashekhar said that a total of 160 examination centers have been set up in the district. There are 15 government, 81 aided and 64 unaided recognized schools. These include 18 examination centers in Tehsil Etmadpur, 23 in Kheragarh, 16 in Bah, 19 in Kirawali, 65 in Sadar, 19 in Fatehabad. So far 397 representations have been received on the online portal, out of which 315 objections are regarding the allotment of centers at a greater distance.

This figure itself makes it clear that there are serious flaws in center determination. Now the question is whether students will be forced to take risks by traveling long distances or the administration will correct this mess in time. Along with this, 35 complaints were received regarding construction of new examination centre, 34 regarding excess allocation of holding capacity, 12 regarding cancellation of examination center by the manager or principal and one complaint representation was received against the proposed examination centre.
