Orders to close 411 polluting units in Delhi.
State Bureau, New Delhi. Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has ordered the closure of 411 industrial units in the national capital which are operating without mandatory permission and causing air-water pollution. Actually, DPCC, in collaboration with the Revenue Department and Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), is conducting joint inspection of 28 notified industrial areas and 27 redeveloped areas. During the survey, a total of 1,586 units were inspected in the notified industrial areas till December 20. Of these, 232 units were operating without DPCC permission and causing pollution. According to officials, 1,102 units in the redeveloped areas were inspected and 179 units were found violating pollution norms. An official said that based on the inspection, DPCC issued orders for closure of all 411 non-compliant units on December 21. He said the three agencies started the inspection following instructions from Delhi Environment and Forest Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. This survey, which started on December 9, is still going on.
