Satyendra Singh, New Delhi. In Gurugram, the pillars of the elevated road to be built from Golf Road Extension Sector-56 to Pachgaon and the pillars of the metro will be the same. There will be a road below and a metro line will be laid above with the support of the same pillar.
Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has made this proposal for this proposed route and sent it to the Haryana Government. If the government agrees to the proposal, further work will be done by GMRL under the supervision of the Union Urban Development Ministry.
The state government is working to reduce the traffic pressure in the city and prepare elevated roads and metro routes to give people another route option. With this, people living towards New Gurugram (DLF) and people coming from Faridabad will get new routes. This will also provide relief to the drivers from the traffic jam on Delhi Jaipur Highway till Manesar. Earlier, metro and elevated road were to be built separately.
About ten days ago, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had come to Gurugram and asked the tax authorities to take forward the scheme. Earlier, metro and elevated expressways were to be built separately. Separate land was required for both.
Now GMRL has made a proposal to implement both the schemes on the same route. With this, only one pillar will be built on top of which the road and the metro route will be built on its upper part. It remains to be seen whether the government accepts this proposal or not.
GMRL has argued that this will require less space and will also reduce costs. The space earmarked for the metro route will be left so that the road can be widened if needed in future. It is said that Union Development Minister Korla has also liked this proposal.
