Supply Of Intoxicating Syrup To 350 Firms, Vinod Aggarwal, Carrying A Reward Of Rs 50,000, Revealed The Secrets Of The Syndicate

Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. Vinod Aggarwal, accused of selling codeine syrup and drugs carrying a reward of Rs 50,000, was arrested by the Crime Branch and Collectorganj police station from Mahendragarh district of Haryana and sent to jail.

DCP Crime Shravan Kumar Singh and ADCP Crime Anjali Vishwakarma told the press conference on Monday that kingpin Vinod Aggarwal has confessed to supplying syrup to 47 firms. Whereas police investigation has revealed that Shatir had supplied codeine syrup to more than 350 firms.

Police have recovered 11.50 lakh bottles of syrup from the market while 8.50 lakh bottles of syrup are yet to be recovered. For this, the police will soon seek custody remand of gangster Vinod Aggarwal from the court.

A total of eight cases have been registered in this case. The crime branch investigating the case is continuously raiding in search of Vinod Aggarwal's son and other accused.

DCP Crime Shravan Kumar Singh said that in the case of selling codeine syrup and drugs belonging to NDPS category under the guise of drug license, Food Safety and Drug Administration Secretary Roshan Jacob had conducted a raid and recovered one lakh bottles of cough syrup.

Police investigation has revealed that about 20 lakh bottles of codeine syrup were sold, out of which 11.50 lakh bottles of syrup have been recovered by the police. However, 8.50 bottles of cough syrup are still recovered. In the last two years, accused Vinod Aggarwal had purchased goods from eight firms.

To recover the syrup, the police will take custody remand of gangster Vinod Aggarwal from the court and recover it. ADCP Anjali Vishwakarma said that the accounts and assets of the accused are also being identified and action will be taken to confiscate them.

He told that this is a part of the syndicate running at the state level. The firms to which the accused supplied codeine syrup are also being investigated whether only the syrup was included or other medicines were also included.

He told that in the investigation, names of two firms have also come to light in which the accused had talked about supplying codeine cough syrup, but during interrogation it was found that under the guise of those firms, the supply was done at another place. On which the transporter and driver are now being interrogated.

At the same time, the police is also investigating these facts, the names of the firms which the accused told that they had taken the goods or not are also being investigated. The accused include Vinod Agarwal's son Shivam Agarwal, Anmol Gupta, Manju Sharma, Abhishek Sharma and Ved Prakash Shivhare, Sumit Kesarwani.

SIT is investigating the entire incident. However, earlier the investigation was also being done from the police stations, which was handed over to the Crime Branch a week ago.

A reward of Rs 50 thousand was announced on kingpin Vinod Aggarwal. DCP Crime Shravan Kumar Singh said that Vinod Aggarwal is accused of illegal buying, selling and storing of medicines, sending goods of illegal medicines internationally and making forged documents.

With the help of cyber team, he has been arrested from Dadu ki Kothi Azad Chowk of Narnaul in Mahendragarh district of Haryana. Teams are continuously raiding in search of other accused including his son.
