Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. People of Nagar Panchayat Bisharatganj area of Amla tehsil are not getting clean water. The main reason for this is the faulty pipeline laid by the Jal Nigam through the Nagar Panchayat in the town.
Efforts are being claimed to improve it but the efforts that have been going on for a long time have not been fruitful. Due to which the residents here are forced to drink contaminated water.
To supply drinking water to the people of the town, it is divided into two zones. For this, two overhead tanks are built here. The old overhead tank is of 500 KL capacity, while in view of the increasing population, a second overhead tank of 1100 KL capacity has been installed.
There are connections in about 35 hundred houses in the town, there was a big problem of leakage due to the damage to the old pipeline during supply from the previous tank. After the installation of the new tank, the pipeline has been expanded in the town, due to which the problem of leakage persists at many places, due to which contaminated water is also being supplied to the houses, about which citizens are continuously complaining.
People say that this problem persists due to ignoring the standards in laying the pipeline. Councilors Bablu Maurya, Pradeep Sahu, Kadir Ahmed, Aasmin and Maya Devi have complained about this problem to Uttar Pradesh. Questions were raised on its quality by sending a letter to Jal Nigam (Urban), Lucknow.
He had also demanded an investigation into it. His allegation was that the standards for laying the pipeline were not followed, the pipe of lower gauge than the prescribed and less depth was laid, due to the poor quality of the pipe, there is a problem of leakage at many places, due to which contaminated water is also reaching the houses.
In this regard, Jal Nigam's visiting engineer Salimuddin said that complaints of leakage have been received at some places in the pipeline, line testing is being done and the complaints are being resolved, the work has been completed keeping the standards in mind.
Due to lack of pipe lines, leakages are happening at many places, due to which people are forced to drink dirty water.
-Kuldeep Maurya, a mistake has been made in laying the pipeline in the town due to which water is leaking, the roads and streets of the entire town have been dug up and have not been rectified.
