The accident took place at this toll of the corporation in Ghazipur on Delhi Meerut Expressway. Awakening
Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. Vehicles move at high speed on Delhi Meerut Expressway. Despite the absence of traffic signals, drivers have to apply brakes suddenly when they reach Ghazipur. Corporation employees collect toll in the middle of the expressway. This toll remains a danger to drivers. The accident that happened here on Thursday morning is a living example of this.
Even after this accident, toll employees are collecting toll in the middle of the road like before. The corporation has not learned any lesson. The biggest problem is that there is no big signboard anywhere on the expressway inside the Ghaziabad border, which can inform the drivers about the toll plaza in Delhi. This toll plaza hinders the speed of vehicles on the expressway.
Employees suddenly come to stop commercial vehicles on the expressway. Many times, vehicles go out of control and put their lives and that of the drivers in danger. The toll plaza is also near the toll plaza on the expressway on NH-9. But here toll is collected using Fastag through cameras.
Meanwhile, on the expressway, employees stand with mobile phones in their hands and scan the Fastags installed on vehicles to collect toll. Often, drivers coming from behind find it difficult to identify whether a vehicle is parked or moving at the toll plaza.
Car drivers said that Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said many times that the toll plazas of the corporation on the borders of Delhi should be removed. Despite the minister's order, the corporation is keeping these plazas operational, causing traffic jams. An attempt was made to know the corporation's side over the phone, but the conversation could not take place.
Goods vehicles enter Delhi only after the no-entry period is over. The entry of goods trains in Delhi opens at 10:00 pm. Even before this, queues of goods vehicles start forming at Ghazipur toll on Ghaziabad border.
This is not an isolated incident, queues form every day, which increases the risk of accidents. A few months ago, a man was killed in Ghaziabad when he was hit by a vehicle parked on the roadside.
