Jagran correspondent, Deoria. A case of a village secretary demanding bribe for registering names in the birth-death certificate and family register has come to light. The District Magistrate had taken cognizance of the villagers' complaint. On the instructions of DM, a four-member team including BDO reached Salempur town on Tuesday afternoon to investigate the matter. The sudden arrival of the officials in the village created a stir and a large number of villagers lodged their complaints against the village secretary.
The complainant, Sadiq Ali, son of late Zainul Abedin, resident of Salempur town, had complained to the BDO on December 27 with an affidavit that the village secretary was demanding money for making birth and death certificates and registering names in the family register. When no action was taken, he met District Panchayat Officer Ratan Kumar and also submitted a complaint letter to District Magistrate Divya Mittal. After this the DM had given instructions to investigate the matter.

On Tuesday, under the leadership of BDO Ramesh Dutt Mishra, the joint team of ADO Panchayat Dhirendra Sagar, ADO ISB Vijay Pratap Gupta and ADO Social Welfare Rakesh Yadav reached Gram Panchayat Bhawan. The team interacted with the villagers and investigated the allegations of demanding bribe for registering names in the birth-death certificate and family register and recorded the statements of the concerned villagers.
A complaint was received about the village secretary demanding money in the name of birth certificate. A four-member team was sent to the village to investigate the same. Statements of the villagers including the complainant have been recorded. Further action will be taken based on the investigation report.
