Jagran correspondent, Fatehpur. The roots of corruption in the electricity department have gone very deep. Like termites, they are cleaning up the hard-earned capital of consumers. Two SDOs have gone to jail in bribery cases, even after this corruption is not stopping.

The latest case has come from Mahicha Mandir Power House, where TG-2 grabbed Rs 25,000 from the defaulter in the name of paying the bill. XEN has suspended TG-2 after the video of the episode went viral on the internet.

Niaz Ahmed, resident of Sawant village of Khaga Kotwali, had gone to Mahicha Mandir sub-centre on September 19 to deposit the domestic connection bill. There he made a video of handing over the bill amount of Rs 25 thousand in the hands of TG-2 Omprakash Maurya.

TG-2 spent the bill amount himself instead of depositing it in the department. When the October bill reached home, the game of TG-2 was exposed. After this Niaz lodged a complaint about the matter with the electricity officials.

Even after this the consumer's bill was not deposited, so on Friday the video of the case was made popular on the internet. Taking cognizance of the popular video, Executive Engineer Mahavir Singh said that TG-2 has been suspended. At the same time, after this action there has been panic among the contract workers.

'Taking cognizance of the video circulating on the internet, TG-2 has been suspended. The matter has been investigated by Khaga sub-divisional officer Deepak Singh. The report has proved TG-2 guilty, after which action has been taken on the basis of evidence.' -Mahavir Singh, Executive Engineer Khaga.
