The first residential institute for mentally handicapped will open in Himachal.
State Bureau, Shimla. In a major initiative for children with special needs in Himachal Pradesh, the state's first residential institution for mentally handicapped will open in Hiranagar, Shimla. For this, Sukhu government has given approval to fill 11 posts as job trainee. Himachal Cabinet has approved creation and filling of 11 posts of Principal and 10 posts of Educator for the operation of this institute. The building of this institute has been completely completed at a cost of about Rs 8 crore.
50 children will get facility
This residential institution is being established especially for 50 mentally handicapped children, where there will be proper arrangements for their living, studies and care. The objective of the government is to provide quality education, training and rehabilitation to such children in a safe environment.
Medical and counseling services will also be available
This institute to be opened in Hiranagar will be the first in the government sector in the state, where complete residential arrangements will be provided for mentally handicapped children. Here special teachers will focus on the development of children's academic, mental and social abilities. Along with this, necessary medical and counseling services will also be provided.
Disabled School located in Dhali under Government
Along with this, the Cabinet has in principle approved to take the Divyang School located at Dhali in Shimla district under the state government. In such a situation, 27 employees serving there will come under the control of the government. 126 students are getting education in this school. Till now this institute was operating under the Child Council.
