The expansion of Yoga in countries like Saudi Arabia and the leadership of Indian doctors in western countries is a testament to our intellectual property and the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avadheshanand Giri Maharaj of Juna Akhara said these things in the function organized on the 162nd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

On Sunday, people associated with various fields including health, education, service and doctors and students of the medical college participated in the function organized by Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Society in the auditorium of Government Doon Medical College, Patel Nagar.

The speakers told about Swami Vivekananda's thoughts, message of human service and contribution in nation building. Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avadheshanand Giri Maharaj of Juna Akhara said that the existence of life is basically due to divine power. God is also in charity. Today man wants his body to remain balanced and healthy.

Institutions like RSS and Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Society are doing the work of national awakening. Today the world may be spending crores on external beauty, but the truth is that real wellness lies in India's Yoga and Ayurveda traditions.

In the program, RSS co-secretary Alok Kumar said that while mentioning the Indian tradition and emphasizing its importance, he said that the Vaidyas of that time did not charge fees for giving medicines. Today Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Society is carrying out this spirit of service very well.

More need to improve health services

Today there is a greater need for improvement in health services and this will be possible only when the government and society come forward together. He said that there was a time when 50 pilgrims died during the Chardham Yatra. Because there was no health facility beyond Srinagar. But ever since Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Society's hospital came, there has been a lot of improvement in the last three years and the death toll has come down to four to five.

He said that this organization, which started with a team of just five people, has now reached 500 workers and soon this number will reach five thousand. Presiding over the function, Ashok Kumar Vindalus, Whole Time Director, Vindalus Biotech Limited, said that in our culture it is taught to connect with others in a spirit of service.

If you earn something in the society then keep serving it vigorously. He also gave the message that I can be useful to someone through my poetry, if there is pain in my heart, I will become a medicine for that heart. Many table books and calendars were also released in the programme. The service work of Swami Vivekananda Charitable Hospital and the relief work done during the disaster in Dharali and Tharali of Uttarkashi were shown through the documentary.

50 doctors doing social service honored

In the ceremony, 50 doctors and social workers who were serving the society through some means or the other in the health sector were honored by Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Society. During this time, all those honored took a pledge that they will continue to work with the same spirit of service in the future and will also include others in this service.
