Digital Desk, Hoshiarpur. The wife of a retired policeman was shot dead in a village in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. Regarding the incident, police said that on Saturday morning, a person riding a motorcycle shot dead a 62-year-old woman in a village in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.
He said the woman, who was the wife of a retired sub-inspector of Punjab Police, was returning home after paying obeisance at the nearby religious place Bhuri Waleyan Di Kutiya in Mehandwani Gujran village. Then an unknown assailant fired several bullets at her, seriously injuring her. Police said that he died while being taken to the civil hospital. After the incident the attacker fled on his bike. The deceased's husband, Sham Lal, had retired from the Punjab Police as Assistant Sub-Inspector.
DSP Daljit Singh Khakh said that CCTV camera footage of the area is being scrutinized to trace and arrest the attacker. The officer said no gangsters' angle has emerged so far, and the motive behind the murder is being ascertained.

Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party leader and property dealer Lucky Oberoi was shot dead in Jalandhar in the early hours of Friday. A video of the incident also surfaced, in which a man wearing a black hoodie shot Lucky at close range while he was sitting in his car near Gurdwara Sahib. He was hit by several bullets, after which he died in the hospital.
