The Tunnel From Bhainsali To Metro Plaza Is 1.84 Km Long... The Tunnel Boring Machine Had Reached In Pieces.

Meerut. Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) was used to prepare tunnels in Meerut and Delhi. It was named Sudarshan. The weight of the machine is very high, hence most of the equipment of the machines were brought in different parts. A large pit was dug for the tunnel, which is called a shaft in technical language. The machine is prepared by connecting these machines in this shaft.

A 6.5 meter diameter tunnel has been prepared. The length of the tunnel in Anand Vihar is about three km and in Meerut is 3.5 km. However, the length of the underground portion including stations etc. is approximately five km. The weight of the parts of the tunnel boring machine is 100 tons. The parts of this machine were first connected through a crane, through which a small train with different boxes is also run to remove soil from the 90 meter long machine-prepared tunnel.

With the help of these boxes, the train is brought out by driving the soil on the track. On the first day, this machine started breaking the 1.5 meter wide concrete D-wall. The first tunnel was built from Bhainsali to Metro Plaza. This machine kept moving forward in pieces of five-six meters. The more soil she kept digging, the more soil kept coming out of the trolley inside it. Then it was filled in dumpers and sent to the designated place. As the digging for the tunnel continued, the segments forming the tunnel ring were placed on the machine. The more the machine dug, the more segments it added. By connecting seven segments, a ring of tunnel will be formed in a round shape.

Important parts of the machine: This TBM includes cutter head, front shield, middle shield, tail shield, erector, screw conveyor and many other important parts. The construction of the 1.84 km long tunnel from Bhainsali towards Metro Plaza in Meerut started on April 9. By the way, the length of the tunnel making machine itself is 100 meters. However, until the machine goes completely underground, its speed is somewhat slow and then it works faster. Breaking this wall is his challenge and it takes time.
