Rajiv Bajpayee, Lucknow. There is a stir not only in the camp of Congress and Samajwadi Party but also in the camp of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party due to exclusion of 12 lakh voters from the list after special intensive revision. The ruling party is worried that the least digitization has taken place only in the areas where it has a strong support base. Digitization did not reach even 70 percent in any of the five seats of the urban assembly, which has become a cause of trouble for other parties as well as BJP. The special intensive review which started from November 4 continued till December 26. During this period the Commission extended the dates twice. 5.25 lakh displaced and 4.25 lakh missing voters were found in Lucknow. Apart from this, the number of duplicate and dead voters also reached above two lakh. In this way, after SIR in Lucknow, digitization of 69.85 percent forms was completed.

Very less number of digitization was done in urban assembly constituencies Cantt, Central, North, East and Central. BJP has MLAs on three of these five seats in the city. Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak is from Cantt and OP Srivastava is from East. Dr. Neeraj Bora is MLA in North Assembly. Voters have decreased by 35 to 40 percent on these seats.

SP has two seats in the city. Dr. Ravidas Mehrotra is from the Central seat and Arman Khan of SP is the MLA from the West seat. Election officials say that the attitude of voters in urban areas was quite indifferent towards AIR. There were many problems in form collection.

After the BLO forms were delivered, many people remained hesitant in submitting them. This is the reason why the figures after SIR in certain areas of the city are not encouraging. Internally, BJP leaders are also worried about voters being out. In fact, BJP has the largest support base in all these areas. Multiplication calculations are being done to ensure that the party does not suffer loss due to large number of voters withdrawing.

Lucknow Central and West are two such seats which are held by SP and also has its support base. Voters have reduced by 35 percent on these seats too. SP Metropolitan President Fakir Siddiqui says that we were already expressing apprehension about this. The Commission has arbitrarily excluded voters. Further discussions will be held as per the instructions received from the top level. City Congress is also now attacking the Commission due to the fear of decreasing support base. City President Amit Srivastava says that the fielding is being set for BJP. Voters were stopped from filling the forms. Voters after SIR
