There is going to be water shortage in many areas of Delhi.

Under the annual flushing program of Jeetgarh Reservoir in the command area of Chandrawal Water Works, water supply will be affected from January 3 and January 5 to January 8, 2026. Due to this, there may be water shortage in many areas of the city, the Water Board has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
This program is scheduled for the year 2025-2026 and is said to be necessary for cleaning and maintaining the reservoir. The affected areas include Old Sabzi Mandi, Baraf Khana, Malka Ganj, Sarai Phus, Bangla Road, Rajpur Road, Shakti Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Roop Nagar, University Area, Police Line Area, Shri Ram Institute and Bahar Ghar etc. Residents of these areas have been advised to use water responsibly so that they do not face much trouble in case of shortage.

Also, for any water related emergency, the helpline number 1916 can be called. The Water Board has appealed to the people for cooperation.
