There are preparations to fill the vacant posts of teachers in Himachal Pradesh through rationalization and direct recruitment.
State Bureau, Shimla. Himachal Pradesh government is going to make a major reshuffle in the education department for qualitative improvement in education. There are 11,716 vacant posts of teachers in government schools, which will be filled through rationalization and direct recruitment. The process for this has started at the departmental level. At present there is a ban on transfers of teachers in the Education Department, which will be lifted on March 31. The process of rationalization can be taken forward only after the restrictions are lifted.
Sub cadre being formed for 144 CBSE schools
144 government schools in the state have got affiliation from the Central Board of Secondary Education. A sub-cadre of teachers is being created for appointment in these schools. Examination is being conducted to get into sub cadre. The department will first complete the selection of teachers for the sub cadre. After selection in sub cadre, the number of vacant posts in many schools will increase, due to which there will be transfers on a large scale.
More schools will merge
The maximum number of vacant posts in the state are in JBT and TGT categories. The government has recently closed 39 zero registration schools, while around 62 schools have been merged. Due to these steps many posts have become surplus. Some more schools will be merged this month.
Rationalization from next session
The Education Department had started the process of rationalization of TGT teachers last year also, but there were protests due to the start of this process in the middle of the session. Now the department will complete this process at the beginning of the session itself, so that no opposition arises. Education Minister Rohit Thakur has discussed this in detail in the departmental review meeting two days ago. He has instructed the officials to start the process for this soon.
Vacant posts of various categories of teachers
There are 11716 vacant posts of various categories of teachers in government schools of the state. These include 86 Principals, 386 Headmasters, 2642 Lecturers, 164 DPEs, 581 Trained Graduate Teachers (Arts), 584 Trained Graduate Teachers (Non-Medical), 362 Trained Graduate Teachers (Medical), 70 Urdu Teachers, 34 Punjabi Teachers, 12 Yoga Teachers, 22 Music Teachers, 22 Home Teachers. 149 posts of physical teacher, 1011 of art teacher, 197 of art teacher, 230 of language teacher, 796 of Shastri, 16 of block elementary education officer, 150 of center head teacher, 658 of head teacher, 3567 of junior basic teacher and other categories are vacant.
Recruitment process of 5450 teachers in final stage
The recruitment process of 5450 teachers is in the final stage. This includes posts of Spokesperson School New, TGT, JBT, CHT and other categories. There is a surplus of teachers in schools adjacent to the city, while there is a shortage of teachers in rural areas. The department says that a separate sub-cadre of teachers is being created for CBSE affiliated schools. Most of the schools affiliated to CBSE are located in the city, hence teachers will come to them through selection, the rest will have to go to other places.
