Threat to bomb six courts of Bengal (symbolic picture)
State Bureau, Jagran, Kolkata. There was a stir in the judicial corridors of Bengal on Tuesday when six courts of the districts of the state including Kolkata received bomb threats through e-mail.
The message sent by an unknown sender claimed that RDX had been placed in the court premises and everything would be blown up by afternoon.
After this threat, an atmosphere of chaos was created in the City Sessions Court in Kolkata, Bankshall Court, Asansol Court, Durgapur Court, Chunchura Court in Hooghly district and Baharampur Court in Murshidabad district.
Immediately, the police force and the bomb disposal squad took charge and evacuated the concerned premises and started an intensive search operation with the help of the dog squad. Every nook and corner was searched for a long time but in the end nothing was found.
Judges will be provided full security
While giving full assurance of security of judges and general public during a press conference, Chief Secretary Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty said that judges engaged in judicial work and important work like Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be provided full security.
Director General of Police Piyush Pandey and Kolkata Police Commissioner Supratim Sarkar clarified that the cyber cell of the police is busy finding the source of these e-mails.
