More than 1800 driving licenses daily

Digital Desk, Patna. The Transport Department has achieved major success in resolving the pending issues related to Driving License (DL) and Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC). On an average, 1,841 driving licenses and 3,731 vehicles are now being registered in the state every day. This information was given by Transport and Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar during a program organized at the District Transport Office on Wednesday. He had come to symbolically hand over DL and RC to the successful applicants of Patna and Nawada.

On this occasion, the Minister also released a booklet based on road safety rules. District Transport Officers of all the districts joined the program through video conferencing and distributed DL and RC to the applicants who passed the driving test in their respective districts. The remaining applicants will have their certificates sent home through speed post.

The Minister said that the pending pendency of DL and RC was a big challenge for the department, which was directly impacting the common people, especially the youth and the employment related class.

The situation has now improved rapidly due to work in mission mode, regular monitoring and special operations. He assured that there will be no pendency of any kind in future and the services will be completely time bound.

The department has made a special strategy regarding road safety. The minister said that Road Safety Month will be celebrated across the state from January 1 to March 31.

Under this, school-college students will be made aware of traffic rules. Also, from January 1 to 15, the driving licenses, fitness and other safety standards of all private school buses and their drivers will be thoroughly checked. The works of the DL card issuing agency will also be reviewed.

Giving information about the figures, the Minister said that till now more than 1 crore 52 lakh vehicles are registered in Bihar and there are more than 1 crore 30 lakh licensees.

In November, 1 lakh 38 thousand 550 RC cases were pending, while till December 30, more than 3 lakh 43 thousand RCs have been issued. There has also been a significant reduction in pendency in DL cases.

In the program, Bihar State Road Transport Corporation Administrator Atul Kumar Verma told that pink bus service will be started in Biharsharif from January 1.

Apart from this, new deluxe buses will be run on Patna-Rajgir-Kokolat route. For the convenience of passengers, bus depots are under construction in six divisions of the state and 194 new buses will soon hit the roads.

Many senior officials of the transport department were present in the program. The minister said that this achievement is not just a victory of statistics but of public trust.
