Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. A dispute broke out between an intern student and a staff nurse at the trauma center of BRD Medical College. A scuffle broke out between the two. After this, about 20-25 intern students arrived and beat the staff nurse badly.

Due to this, the staff nurses boycotted work, due to which the treatment system collapsed. Till late night the officers were trying to resolve the dispute by making both the parties sit, but there too a clash broke out. Both sides were adamant on demanding action, due to which the patients and attendants remained troubled.

Junior Resident-1 has been entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of the patients. At around 2 pm on Thursday afternoon, an intern student working in Women's Surgery Ward No. 4 reached the emergency surgery of the Trauma Center and started taking the injection of local anesthesia without asking.

Jai Prakash, the staff nurse on duty, told him to carry all his work in a syringe, on which the intern became enraged and slapped him. After this there was a fight between the two. After some time, the intern called 20 to 25 of his colleagues and they started beating the nurse.

Another staff nurse Shivam also got injured while intervening. Acting Principal Dr. Shilpa Wahikar listened to both the parties and immediately constituted an inquiry committee and sought a report within three days. Based on the report, action will be taken against the culprits. Staff nurses are being persuaded to return to work.
