Gave divorce by sending message on WhatsApp.

A married woman from a locality in Kotwali area was given triple talaq by her husband by sending a message on WhatsApp. For a long time, the accused have been harassing the married woman by demanding additional dowry. In the case, on the orders of the SP, the Kotwali police have registered a report against four named accused including the husband.
In the report lodged with the police, Arashi of Mohalla Sarai Gaddapara of the city said that on December 4, 2009, she was married to Asif Akram of New Kuchh Vihar in Bhagini, Jihat Phakator area of West Bengal.
Shortly after the marriage, the husband, mother-in-law Lilima Begum, brother-in-law Wasim Akram and brother-in-law Ishaq Akram started demanding a bike and Rs 5 lakh as additional dowry. When the demand was not met, the married woman was abused and beaten.
He was kept hungry and thirsty and started being tortured. During this time, the victim gave birth to daughters Erin (15 years), Afreen (13 years) and Rahima (five years). Still the accused did not stop torturing him.
Husband Asif works as a tailor in Bangalore, but does not send any financial assistance for months. The parents of the victim and her daughters are bearing the expenses. On May 31, 2025, the victim had come to Hapur with her husband and children to attend her sister's marriage.
During this time the husband asked for Rs 90 thousand. When he did not give it, he abused him and picked up the bag and left from there. On September 29, 2025, at quarter to 11 pm, the husband sent a message on WhatsApp saying triple talaq.
The victim also has the screenshot of this message. The victim complained to the SP in the matter. SP Gyananjay Singh said that a report has been registered against all the accused named in the case. Strict action will be taken after investigation.
