Two youths drowned during a funeral in Varanasi Ganga, one dead body recovered.

A tragic incident took place at Betavar Ghat located under Akhari Chowki of the police station area, where two people who had gone to the funeral drowned while taking bath in the Ganga. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police recovered one body with the help of NDRF, while the search for the other is going on.
According to the information, Dheeraj, a resident of Ashapur Nandupur police station Sarnath, informed the police that the cremation of the mother of Lalji Patel, a resident of Bandepur in Rohania area, was being done at Betavar Ghat. Relatives involved in this funeral, Ajit Kumar Patel (19 years) and Harsh Patel (15 years), residents of Parmanandpur police station, Shivpur drowned while bathing in Ganga.
At the spot, police station in-charge Inspector Rohania Raju Singh and outpost in-charge Akhari Vishal Singh took immediate action and called local divers and NDRF team. Divers fished out the body of Harsh Patel, son of Bhai Lal Patel, and sent it to the trauma centre.
Local people told that after the funeral everyone was drinking water on top of the ghat. Meanwhile, when the clothes of two boys were seen lying on the ghat, a search was started. During investigation it was found that both the boys had drowned in the Ganga.
Police said that the search for the second youth is going on and the NDRF team is conducting a search operation in the Ganga. The incident has sent a wave of mourning in the area, and the local people are expressing deep grief over this tragic incident.
The police administration has appealed to the local people to be cautious while bathing in the water and in case of any emergency, contact for help immediately. This incident has once again highlighted the importance of water security.
