Jagran correspondent, West Delhi. The Western District of Delhi Police has got great success. Vigilant employees of Madipur police post of Punjabi Bagh police station area have arrested a vicious thief while trying to escape. The accused has been identified as Sarwan alias Puri, who already has 24 criminal cases registered against him, including theft, snatching and Arms Act.
Western District DCP D Sharad Bhaskar said that on December 13, at around 08:15 pm, the patrolling team of Madipur police post spotted a suspicious person riding a scooter coming from Lake Park, Madipur. Seeing the police, the scooter rider suddenly tried to run away by taking a U-turn, but due to the prompt action and alertness of the patrol team, he was caught at a short distance.
During investigation, a button operated knife was recovered from the accused. Also, the scooter recovered from his possession was investigated on Zipnet, which was found stolen from Khayala police station.
The police immediately registered a case under the Arms Act and arrested the accused. During interrogation, accused Sarwan alias Puri confessed to his involvement in two more incidents of snatching in Punjabi Bagh area. A total of four cases, including an e-FIR from Khayla police station, have been solved with his arrest. The DCP also said that the accused had got bail in a previous case only on February 14.
