Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. Vigilance team has seized 768 water bottles of banned brand in Kushinagar Express number 22537. Along with seizing water bottles worth Rs 14680, Vigilance has handed over the water bottles to the Inspector-in-charge of Railway Protection Force for legal action.
Vigilance team had conducted a surprise raid in Kushinagar Express on the instructions of Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer of North Eastern Railway. The team checked the train standing on platform number seven of Gorakhpur Junction around 5 pm.
The vendor Pantry, with the help of the car manager, was loading water bottles of banned brands for sale in coaches number B one and B five. On January 10, a team of Commerce Department employees raided platform number nine and seized 300 bottles of banned brands. Vendors were loading water bottles into number 12555 Gorakhdham Express.
Instead of Rail Neer, local brand (unauthorized) water bottles are being sold indiscriminately for Rs 20 at Gorakhpur Junction and in trains. Along with the health of the passengers, their pockets are also getting loose. Neither the concerned railway officials and security personnel are taking notice nor the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is able to curb illegal vending.
