Attempt to woo voters in Pune Municipal Corporation elections (symbolic photo)
Digital Desk, New Delhi. Now only three weeks are left for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections. In this election, many types of offers are being given to the voters to woo the voters. Councilors vying for power have offered a long list of freebies and gifts.
The councilors contesting the elections have talked about foreign trips, expensive cars, jewelery and giving sarees to housewives to woo the voters.
Big offers in municipal elections
In Lohegaon-Dhanori ward, a candidate has promised to give 1,100 square feet of land to 11 voters through 'lucky draw'. Registration for this has also started. A candidate from Viman Nagar has offered couples a five-day luxury trip to Thailand.
Apart from land and saree, people are also being lured to give vehicles in Pune Municipal Corporation elections. SUVs, two-wheelers and gold jewelery have been promised through lucky draws in some wards.

In this election, efforts are being made to woo mostly housewives and women voters. Thousands of Paithani sarees (hand-woven silk sarees with bright colors and intricate designs, embroidered with pure gold or silver), have already been distributed ahead of the elections. Apart from this, sewing machine and bicycle are also being given.
A cricket league has been organized for voters interested in sports, in which a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh has been offered. All such offers reflect the competition to show financial strength among the candidates contesting the elections.
