Jagran correspondent, Agra. After the morning fog cleared, the mercury fell further on Friday, with the minimum temperature recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius. There was slight respite from the cold due to sunshine during the day but in the evening people remained troubled due to the biting cold. At the same time, the air quality index (AQI) crossed 300 at 9 pm.

The air of Sanjay Place remained the most polluted, due to increase in AQI the risk of asthma attack has also increased. The Meteorological Department has predicted that there may be fog in the morning on Saturday, there are chances of sunshine in the afternoon.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius.

After the fog cleared in the morning, the sun came out. The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday, it dropped to 7.4 degrees Celsius on Friday. After 10 am the sun started getting stronger. In the afternoon there was strong sunshine along with the wind blowing. People enjoyed the sunshine amidst the cold wind. The maximum temperature was recorded at 22.3 degrees Celsius. After four o'clock in the evening the temperature started falling and people were troubled by the freezing cold. The cold increased further at night.

On the other hand, due to fog, the level of pollutants increased at the lower surface. AQI 322 was recorded in Sanjay Place at 9 pm. In this also the maximum level of very fine particles PM 2.5 reached 500. At the same time, the maximum level of carbon monoxide was 111 and ozone was recorded at seven. The AQI of Sector 3B Awas Vikas Colony and Shahjahan Garden was recorded at more than 200. Here too the levels of extremely fine particles and carbon monoxide remained high.

Dr. Santosh Kumar, Chairman of the Department of Respiratory Medicine, SN Medical College, said that due to increase in the levels of carbon monoxide, ozone and particulate matter, the elderly and patients suffering from respiratory diseases are suffering from shortness of breath. This has increased the risk of asthma attack. Four patients suffering from asthma attack have been admitted. Increasing ozone levels can cause restlessness and panic.
