What Is Going To Happen At Garden Of Five Senses And Naini Lake? Delhi Government's Plan To Promote Tourism

State Bureau, New Delhi. Even if slowly, some work related to tourism is going to start in the new year. To promote tourism, while beautification work will start in the Garden of Five Senses in South Delhi, improvement work will also be done in Naini Lake of Model Town area in North Delhi.

If experts are to be believed, the Delhi government has planned to start beautification of major places across the city. It is believed that after the work starts at these places, work on some other schemes can also start.

In which installation of facilities and large information boards around the monuments is also being considered. On which tourists will be given detailed information about that place.

Preparations for rejuvenation of major tourist destinations of the city

Meanwhile, the Delhi Tourism Department has started the process of empanelling a panel of architects as part of the larger citywide beautification drive. The architects included in the panel will help in planning, designing and implementing beautification projects of monuments across Delhi.

At present, the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) has estimated the cost of gardening and landscaping works at the Garden of Five Senses at Rs 48.75 lakh. A tender has been issued for this, while the government will spend Rs 14.75 lakh on Naini Lake in Model Town under the beautification project.

Expenditure fixed on Garden of Five Senses and Naini Lake

This project under the beautification plan at the Garden of Five Senses focuses on rejuvenating the beauty of the garden and improving the maintenance of its green areas. The horticulture scheme involves planting of seasonal and ornamental flowering plants on a large scale.

Soil preparation, application of organic fertilizers, pesticide treatments, pruning and replacing unhealthy or dead plants during maintenance periods are also part of the scope of work. All planting and maintenance activities in the garden will be carried out as per approved horticultural specifications, including digging of pits, filling with prepared soil mixture, watering and long-term maintenance.

Arrangements for cleanliness, fountains and lighting at Naini Lake

Similarly, civil and electrical works will be done on Naini Lake. The redevelopment aims to improve the cleanliness, safety and public access of the lake area, which is frequented by local residents.

The works at Naini Lake will include cleaning of the water body, measures to prevent mosquito breeding and malaria, making fountains and installation of related mechanical and electrical equipment. The official said that electrical works like lighting and allied infrastructure will also be done to enhance visibility and safety around the lake.
