Dialogue Associate, Jagran, Puranpur. Accidents due to dense fog have increased. Due to fog, the Eeco car fell into the Sharda river at midnight on Friday. Four people traveling in the car were rescued with great difficulty by the villagers engaged in taking care of the bridge with the help of the saints who were doing Kalpavas at the ghat.

The saints took those people out with the help of bamboo. It was fortunate that there was less water in the river, due to which there was no loss of life. The car was pulled out of the river with the help of a crane in the morning. The accident happened around 12 o'clock on Friday night near Dhanaraghat of Sharda river.

Abhishek, Arjun Gupta, Aditya Verma and Anant Kumar, residents of Shantinagar village bordering Nepal, now live in Sampoornanagar of Lakhimpur Kheri. He had gone to a program in Khatima, Uttarakhand and from there all four friends were returning home in a car. At midnight, the car fell into the Sharda river due to dense fog just two hundred meters before the pontoon bridge.

Shopkeeper Pappu, resident of Chandia Hazara, who was present on the spot, saw Eeco falling into the river and informed Mahant Raghavdas ji who was residing there. He immediately arrived with other saints and bridge caretaker Bablu Majhi. After opening the window and coming out, the youth stood on the Echo and started shouting for help.

In such a situation, the saints saved the lives of four youths by pulling them out of the river with the help of a bamboo. A bonfire was arranged for the youth who were shivering from the cold as they were completely drenched in water. Outpost incharge Chandia Hazara reached the spot and then the youth were sent to their homes in the night itself. The car was taken out with the help of a crane on Saturday morning.

The youth were rescued within a few minutes

The shopkeeper immediately came to know about the echo falling in the Sharda river and he informed the saints. Within a few minutes, Bablu Manjhi, with the help of saints, pulled the youth out of the river using torch and mobile light. Any delay could have resulted in an untoward incident.

There is less water in Sharda river, flow is also slow

There is less water at the place where the car fell into the river, due to which the flow is also slow. It is being told that after coming to the shore, the car fell straight into the river, due to which the youth traveling in the car did not suffer any major injuries. If the car had overturned and fallen into the river, a major accident could have occurred. However, due to the efforts of the saints present there and Bablu Majhi, everyone was saved. Everyone appreciated it.

Pontoon bridge was ready two days ago

The movement of four-wheelers and two-wheelers has started after the inauguration of the pontoon bridge built on Ghanaraghat of Sharda River from December 25. Earlier, all four-wheelers used to travel through two districts of Lakhimpur Kheri and Shahjahanpur to reach the tehsil headquarters. With the construction of the pontoon bridge, people have become directly connected.

Operations stop after sunset, then how did the car reach there?

There are instructions not to use the pontoon bridge built on the Sharda River after sunset. But even after this the car was taken there at midnight. From this it is being estimated that drivers are allowed entry even at night. Due to this it is natural to raise questions on the system there.

Due to this, drivers travel without any fear. Regarding this, Anup Kumar, Junior Engineer of Public Works Department, said that there are orders not to remove vehicles from the Pontoon Bridge at night after sunset and before sunrise. The bridge is removed at night only for police, forest department and ambulance etc. A watchman is present there. A barrier is installed on the pontoon bridge.

New bridge is being built at a cost of crores

A concrete bridge is being constructed on Sharda River at a cost of Rs 269 crore. For the last several months, the executing agency has been doing the work of making pillars. Work is being done at a very fast pace. The organization has also built a bridge on the river for the movement of its vehicles. If work continues like this, there is a possibility of the bridge being built in two years.

The Eeco car had fallen into the river due to fog at Dhanaraghat in Sharda. Four friends riding Eeco were going from Khatima to Sampoornanagar. All four people have been evacuated safely. He was sent home in a police vehicle at night itself.
