murder of married woman by strangulation
Jagran correspondent, Jehanabad. A sensational case of murder of a newly married woman for dowry has come to light in Jamuk village of Kalpa police station area. Within just 11 months of the marriage, the in-laws killed the married woman and were preparing to cremate the body to hide the evidence.
However, the maternal side got information about the incident in time, due to which a major crime could be exposed. The deceased has been identified as Kajal Kumari, sister of Chandan Kumar, resident of Lodipur village of Koch police station area of Gayaji district.
The marriage took place 11 months ago
Chandan Kumar told that 11 months ago he had married his sister to Sunny Kumar, a resident of Jamuk village. Within a few months of the marriage, the in-laws started demanding a motorcycle, gold chain and ring. When the demands were not met, Kajal was beaten.
A compromise was reached at the social level four times regarding this, but despite this the demand for dowry and harassment did not stop. On Wednesday morning, her parents were called and informed that Kajal was unwell.
Seeing the police, they ran away leaving the dead body.
When the relatives reached Jamuk village, they got information from the villagers that Kajal was murdered and her body was being taken to be burnt. Police reached the spot on information from the parents' side. Seeing the police, all the in-laws left the body and ran away.
The brother alleges that Sunny Kumar and his sister together murdered Kajal by strangulating her. The police station chief said that the post-mortem has been done after taking possession of the body. The matter is being thoroughly investigated.
