When The Demand Of Rs 20 Lakh In Dowry Was Not Met, The Daughter-in-law Was Harassed And Thrown Out Of The House, FIR Registered Against Six Including Husband And Father-in-law.

Samvad Sutra, Dighwara (Saran). Saraswati Singh, wife of Prashant Kumar Singh of Kulhariya village of Koilwar police station in Arrah district, was harassed by her in-laws and thrown out of the house after her demand of Rs 20 lakh in dowry was not met. According to Saraswati Singh, she got married to Prashant Kumar Singh, son of Mithilesh Kumar Singh, resident of Kulharia, according to Hindu customs in the year 2023.

Being the only daughter of a joint family, her father had given Rs 15 lakh and jewelery and expensive gifts to her in-laws in the marriage. Despite this, the in-laws kept demanding additional dowry amount of Rs 20 lakh.

FIR registered against husband and father-in-law

When the demands were not met, Saraswati Singh was continuously tortured physically and mentally and eventually she was thrown out of the house. In this case, Dighwara police has started investigation by filing an FIR against husband Prashant Kumar Singh, father-in-law Mithilesh Kumar Singh, mother-in-law Kiran Devi and three other people.

Police station incharge Ritesh Kumar Mishra said that legal action will be taken and the culprits will be punished as per law. Based on Saraswati Singh's complaint, the police is thoroughly investigating the matter, so that justice can be provided to the victim and strict action can be ensured against dowry harassment.
