Jagran correspondent, Meerut. The government has appointed 2015 batch IPS Avinash Pandey as SSP of Meerut. Till now he was posted in Lucknow SSF corps. He will reach here from Lucknow on Thursday and take charge. Even in 2019, Avinash Pandey has been in Meerut as SP Dehat. He also played an important role in confiscating the property of Mukhtar Ansari during his deployment in Mau.
Avinash Pandey was sent from Pilibhit to SSF corps Lucknow on 23 April 2025. Even before that, he has been posted in SP City of Ghaziabad and Prayagraj Kumbh. Avinash Pandey was in the news for killing three Khalistani terrorists who had fled to Pilibhit after attacking a police post with a grenade in Punjab in an encounter in Puranpur area and registering more than a hundred cases for sending Sikh youth to Canada on fake passports and visas.
In this case of pigeonholing, he had filed a report against 40 such mafias in a single day. The SSP here, Dr. Vipin Tada, has been made the Joint Commissioner of Police, Kanpur Commissionerate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also praised Vipin Tada by tweeting for his patrolling on bicycle. He is the son-in-law of former Baghpat MP and former Mumbai Commissioner Satpal Singh.
SSP Avinash Pandey is originally a resident of Kheri. His father is Shravan Kumar Pandey. Avinash Pandey had created the Sentinel app for watchmen while serving as Meerut SP Dehat. Besides, teams were also formed in rural police stations to stop cyber crimes. Avinash Pandey has done B.Tech in Electronics and Communication. Avinash Pandey had earlier worked as SP in Pilibhit, Mau. He has also been posted as SP Dehat in Prayagraj and SP City in Ghaziabad. During his deployment in Mau, he also played an important role in confiscating the property of muscleman Mukhtar Ansari.
