Woman Dies During Operation In Moradabad, Doctor Accused Of Negligence, Family Members Create Ruckus

Jagran correspondent, Moradabad. There was an uproar in Majhola late on Saturday night when an elderly woman died during an operation in a private hospital. The relatives became enraged at the news of the woman's death and created a ruckus by accusing the hospital management and the doctor of negligence. Seeing the situation worsening, the hospital administration called the police. After which the police reached the spot and took control of the situation. Calmed the relative by assuring him of action.

Dinesh Saini, a resident of Bhola Traders Colony in Majhola, said that his 60-year-old grandmother Murti Devi had slipped and fallen in the bathroom of the house on Saturday. His hand was fractured due to the fall. He was taken to a private hospital located near Prakash Nagar intersection for treatment. The doctor present in the hospital, after preliminary examination, said that the fracture is serious and operation of the hand is necessary.

According to the relatives, the doctors had assured them that the operation was a normal procedure and there was no major danger. The woman was taken to the operation theater on Saturday night. After some time, the doctors informed the relatives that Murti Devi's condition had deteriorated during the operation. He is being shifted to ventilator. Hearing this, the family members got scared and kept asking about the condition of the woman. It is alleged that the hospital management did not clarify the exact situation and after some time at around 11 pm, they were told that Murti Devi had died.

As soon as this news was received, the relatives became angry. It is alleged that the woman had only a fracture of her hand, hence her death during the operation shows serious negligence. According to relatives, if proper treatment and precautions were taken on time, the woman's life could have been saved. On receiving information about the uproar, Majhola police reached the spot. The police tried to convince the relatives by talking to them and assured them of a fair investigation into the matter.

CO Civil Lines Kuldeep Gupta said that the police had reached the hospital on receiving information about the death of the patient. Prima facie the case is of death during operation. Investigation is being done on the basis of family complaint. The woman's body has been sent for post-mortem. The exact cause of death will be known only after the post mortem report comes. Legal action will be taken based on the report.
