Jagran correspondent, Jewar. After five years, YIDA has recognized the township of farmers who were displaced by giving away land and ancestral houses in the first phase for the construction of Noida International Airport. Farmers allege that instead of the name of the village on the boards installed at the entrance and township, preference has been given to the pocket made in the township. Whereas farmers even today want to retain the name of their village as their identity.
Some farmers said that the Yamuna Authority may not have completed the basic facilities even after at least five years, but it has completed the work of giving identity to the township by putting up boards at the entrances from the main roads of the township.
After giving land in the airport, three thousand farmers of seven villages of Jewar, Rohi, Nagla Ganeshi, Nagla Phool Khan, Kishorepur (partial), Dayanatpur Kheda, Nagla Sharif Khan and Nagla Chhetar were displaced. In June 2021, townships were built for the farmers and plots were allotted to the farmers. After which the farmers started building houses and living there.
Yamuna Authority had to prepare basic facilities including roads, drains, drinking water, parks and electricity for the farmers living in the township. Residents of the township say that religious places and community centers have not been ready till date.
For five years, people have been continuously demanding the installation of a sign board at the entrance of the village board in the township to identify the township. On Monday, the authority installed entry gates at the points of entry into the township from the main roads. People say that the village from which they were displaced is still the same village, but the authority has given priority to the name of the pocket instead of the name of the village on the board installed at the entrance.
