Now on Saturday, on the death anniversary of his late wife and veteran actress Smita Patil, he wrote an emotional heart touching message remembering her.

Paying tribute to Smita, Raj Babbar wrote on Instagram, 'The quality that made #SmitaPatil a truly great actress was her identity even outside the screen. She was exceptionally talented. His deep empathy brought alive the struggles of common people and transformed simple stories into soulful songs for justice. He connected us with his life for a very short time, yet his mark is still felt in countless hearts. You gave us very little time to get to know you. This mystery will always remain unsolved. Remembering Smita on her death anniversary."

Died after the birth of his son
Raj Babbar and Smita Patil met in 1982 on the sets of the film 'Bheegi Palkein'. Both of them got married in 1983. Raj Babbar was already married to Nadira. However, Raj Babbar and Smita Patil's marriage was short-lived as the actress died in December 1986 due to complications during childbirth. He died just 15 days after the birth of his son Prateik Babbar.
