On the lines of the pucca bridge (Lalpul) in old Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation is building the first arch bridge in the capital on the lines of the same old bridge. This bridge will continue to remind the people living here and passing by of the pucca bridge.
It is being built exactly on the lines of the Red Bridge. The color of this arch bridge will also be red like the Lal bridge. Vehicular traffic on the British-era bridge built in 1914 was stopped after it fell into disrepair. After this, a plan was made to build this new bridge. At present, more than sixty percent of the work on this new bridge has been completed.
The date for its construction has been fixed for June 2027 but it is being claimed that it will be completed in September 2026. Its construction will provide relief to more than five lakh population.
In view of the increasing population, the concrete bridge under construction is being made four-lane. The length of this bridge, which is being built at a cost of Rs 93 crore, will be 180 meters. The special thing will be that the gap between each arch will be about 30 meters. Six arches are being built in the bridge. The approach roads on both sides of the arch will be 326 meters long.
At present three arches have been completely completed and one arch is under construction. When this under-construction bridge is ready, it will be difficult to differentiate between the old and new bridge. Because the bridge corporation is considering painting the old bridge also. Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation claims that the new concrete bridge will continue to meet the current needs for many decades.
