Digital Desk, New Delhi. Since Chinese President Xi Jinping assumed power, action has been taken against many military officers on the issue of corruption. To take advantage of this situation, the American intelligence agency CIA has openly offered information to such officers. China is furious over this.
CIA has posted a video regarding this on its YouTube channel. The video depicts a frustrated fictional mid-level military officer from China. "Anyone with leadership potential comes under suspicion and is brutally eliminated," the officer says in the video in Mandarin.
efforts to strengthen reach again
Earlier last year, by releasing a video, the CIA had given information in Chinese language about the ways to contact them safely. CIA Director John Ratcliffe said the agency's videos have reached many Chinese citizens and will continue to provide Chinese government officials an opportunity to work together toward a brighter future.
"Our previous videos reached millions of people and inspired new ones," a CIA official said on condition of anonymity, however, he did not provide any details.
In fact, the CIA is investing heavily to counter China. There are efforts to strengthen its reach, which has diminished since Beijing eliminated or imprisoned several American agents between 2010-2012.
